About Us

About GAP

At Graduate Admissions Pathways (GAP), we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to achieve their academic and professional dreams, regardless of background. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to guiding students, particularly those from Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) and First-Generation backgrounds, through the complexities of the graduate admissions process.

Graduate Admissions Pathways (GAP) is dedicated to supporting undergraduate students and alumni of MSIs and First Generation backgrounds. Our mission is to empower underrepresented students with the tools, resources, and connections needed to navigate the graduate admissions process and achieve their educational dreams.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bridge disparities in access to graduate education by equipping students with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to navigate the graduate admissions process. Through mentorship and tailored guidance, GAP fosters inclusion in graduate programs, promotes economic mobility, and prepares students to lead and innovate in their chosen fields.

What Our Students Say!

“GAP was honestly a blessing in plain sight! As a first-generation grad student, the graduate school applications were pretty daunting. Melissa took me under her wing throughout the process and ensured that the relationship we developed was not a transactional, but a transformative one, and planted the seeds for a future long-term mentor/mentee relationship.”

“I am an aspiring J.D. candidate. It was a pleasure speaking with you at the Pre-Law Summit, and I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and share your insights. Our conversation not only clarified many of my concerns, but also strengthened my excitement about pursuing law school and the opportunities your program provides. I truly appreciate your time and generosity, and I look forward to staying connected.”

I have had a great experience working with GAP. Their efficient and reflective feedback allowed me to create and write the best personal statement for PA school, allowing me to be excepted into TWO of my top choices. I am very grateful for GAP’s services and their dedication to students reaching their fullest potential.

"After working in the sports industry in communications, I decided law school was as a pivot I wanted to take in my career. Not knowing much about the application process and being removed from an academic setting for four years, I turned to GAP after meeting Ms. Lee at the HBCU Pre-Law Conference in Atlanta. She advised me through my personal statement, connected me with admissions counselors and gave insight into the application process. Today, I have been accepted into 3 out of the 4 schools I've applied to, and even received a merit based scholarship from a program! I am very grateful for GAP's guidance throughout this process and would recommend services to other prospective law students."
